JAKARTA, INDONESIA, May 16, 2023 – In a strategic move to enhance international collaboration, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta engaged in a productive meeting with representatives from the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) on May 15, 2023. The forum was hosted by UIN Jakarta’s Center for International Cooperation to strengthen academic ties between the two institutions.
USIM was represented by Dr. Fauziah Hassan, Director of USIM ‘Alamiyyah, Mr. Mohd Akashah Abd Rashid, Senior Assistant Registrar of Academic Management Centre, and Mrs. Wan Fauriah Wan Samad, Deputy Registrar of Academic Management Centre. Maila D. H. Rahiem, Ph.D., Head of the Center for International Cooperation, led UIN Jakarta’s representation.
The participating institutions deliberated over renewing their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and possibly instituting a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) across their respective faculties. This renewed commitment primarily promotes mutual academic and cultural exchange, significantly reinforcing the educational bonds between the universities.
A primary point of discussion was the proposed Student Mobility Program, entailing an exchange of 12 students. The delegates assessed various logistical aspects such as accommodation, transportation, and support services to ensure the participating students’ rewarding and enriching experience.
Moreover, UIN Jakarta and USIM expressed interest in fostering inter-faculty collaboration, particularly in organizing micro-credential courses. The meeting pinpointed potential areas of cooperation, including Islamic finance and the economy, thereby solidifying the academic relationship between the two universities.
Additionally, UIN Jakarta’s Rektor Scholarship program was highlighted. This initiative, covering tuition fees, accommodation, and language programs, offers 20 undergraduate positions, seven master’s positions, and five doctoral positions. Positioned as a promising opportunity for USIM students to advance their academic pursuits at UIN Jakarta, it was agreed that informational flyers promoting this scholarship opportunity would be sent to USIM.
This meeting underscores UIN Jakarta’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international relations and fostering global academic and cultural exchanges. The university continues to partner with other international institutions, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence worldwide.
